How are you?!!
Days getting busier to all of us and a quick pulse check.. "how are you.."
Have you ever asked yourself how you are doing,. We should take time to listen to our body, it gives signals to even slightest change in the routine inside which is like a wake up call. Normally we tend to ignore it or go past it. We should start listening to us. It's always good to take care of self, so that we could take care of our loved ones. Recently I experienced a reality check which showed me how physically unfit I am! (no kidding.. it's fact).
In 2022 I came out of my comfort zone and gave myself some me-time, completed some of the items from long pending and lengthy "To do" list. Experienced travelling, surrendered to the nature, created some blissful memories. And then reality hit me hard. I was in a trip to Bali and had to walk a lot to get to the famous natural tourist spots. It was 7 days trip, and I pushed myself for few days.. may be out of enthusiasm. But later on, I was too tired, I couldn't walk further and even crawled at some places while climbing steps!, took lot of breaks to reach to the places. I'm thankful to my friend for coping up with me, she was patient enough and waited for me to catch up :) But now if I look back, such an embarrassment it was!
When returned back, I started thinking, observing people.. the people who are overly cautious about their health. One of my colleague even have health goals for 10 years. His parents who are 60+ years, completed several marathons. Huge Respect to them! I should atleast give some 10% care to my body compared to 200% effort I give at work (yea, right.. meet "the" workaholic me:D)
Work from Home or the so called "Remote work" contributed huge part for the state I'm in now! Ok.. So now that I know whats my current condition, what's the main cause, whats impact; it's time for get to some actions and become healthier.
We need to take care of both physical and mental health here.
- Walking is great thing for a starter. Set some daily targets for steps (5k / 7k/ or even 10k)
- Eat sensibly, only when hungry, food that is healthy, avoiding junk food (we call it junk but our taste-buds tend to love them.. what an irony!), staying hydrated,
- Get enough sleep (7hours at least),
- Did more of what makes me happy, ignored all negativities, accepted the reality (this one was hard, but it gave me some peace of mind).
- It's also good to do medical health check up in regular interval.
